It's the last one of my previous post. It's completely customizable of course (so you can arrange subscriptions in columns, cards, etc.).
I just installed the Beta 8 upgrade and everything looks good!
Did you design it to remove the links from the USER CP? The upgrade didn't change the top link (so it linked to the dead page) but the other 3 worked fine. I changed the nav template to link to the new stand alone page and now all four links on USER CP are working in addition to the links I added in my header.
The only improvement I can suggest right now would be to add a sidebar with nav links or at least a Cart link to the subscription packages page...just to make it even more user friendly.
Great job! Thanks for the upgrade!
The upgrade script, by design, cannot update templates which have been edited. If you had your bankpipe_nav templates altered before upgrading, they retained the old links and references. I always suggest to check the changes made by downloading the patch file provided for each upgrade, and update templates accordingly. Pro tip: I use
FASTyle 2.3 which quickly shows me a side-by-side comparison with the original template for each and every of them when I hit the Diff purple button. Integrating changes is straightforward.
Ok...sounds good! Thanks!
What do you think about a left hand side bar with Cart, purchases, my items, etc... on the subscription page? I was messing around with it a little, but I can't seem to get it to format right.
The subscription page has been moved permanently. What you are asking is to restore it back to the UserCP basically, but it is not happening. You can play around with bankpipe_subscriptions template and add your own sidebar, replicating the one found in the UCP if you like.
No...not my intention to make a faux user cp! I was just thinking a side bar would be cool plus you could add box ads or something in he bar. No big deal...just an idea.
I am surprised that he cart is still in the user cp instead of it's own page...
Well, the cart and the payments pages are not really useful for guests – they cannot purchase anything. But it's important they can see the subscriptions page, even though they cannot buy.
Ah yes...makes good sense. Everything is good, Shade! Now I just got to get members to use it, LOL!
When you have a minute, can you explain or show me an example of how 3rd party monetization works or how other users use it?
You basically monetize attachments, much like it works here on MyBBoost. You set a price, your users either buy a subscription that moves your account to an usergroup allowed to download in that particular forum or buy the attachment individually. Here are some screenshots:
When you edit usergroups permissions, they will cascade down every forum, unless you set custom permissions for them. Conversely, if the option is disabled, users won't be able to download paid attachments unless you specify so in each forum and each usergroup.
Example: Ultimate here gives you access to everything. So it's easy to tick the box in the usergroup permissions box. Basic has few plugins access, so the option is disabled in the usergroup permissions box, but enabled for Basic usergroup in those forums where I want them to download paid attachments.
Users willing to monetize their attachments will earn money from other users if they have set a wallet in their UCP (if they can). Otherwise, all money goes into the board's default wallets. This is not on display here as I don't let you monetize your attachments (even though this hints towards a future marketplace where you can create your own forums with your own plugins/themes).
Ok..thanks for the explanation. I am looking for a way to sell more physical items, not downloads. I can just add them to the subscriptions page maybe. I'll have to try this out and see if I can make it work for me.
Thanks again!
