Farewell

Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I announce that I cease all development and activity in the programming universe indefinitely. My career has reached the turning point I was not expecting for at least another year, leaving me highly off guard and without laid-out plans for this hobby's continuity. I have begun a 5-year residency program in Neurosurgery which is clearly not compatible, time-wise, with programming.

I gave in all my passion for developing, and you gave me back your loyalty and trust, even when I did not deserve that much. Now it is the time for payback. I release all my present and past work as Open Source software, in the hope some talented developer will continue maintaining and expanding my vision of a modern, sleek forum software. The intrinsic flexibility of MyBB is the true hidden gem of an otherwise outdated codebase; I do hope the project can continue and be updated complying to the latest coding standards.

I hereby thank Euan, kawaii, andrewjs18, Ben, Matt, Omar G., effone, Eric J., Devilshakerz, Wildcard, JordanMussi and all the other team members I have had the opportunity to work with when I was a MyBB team member. I thank Tomm M, my mentor, who inspired me to pick up coding with his piece-of-art plugins. And finally, I thank all of you MyBBoost subscribers who have helped me getting through my toughest university years economically.

Yours sincerely, Filippo

Omnipay doesn't allow direct payments, it acts as an intermediary no matter the gateway, so for me it's really not feasible to add this. I know that Coinbase is becoming more restrictive, mostly to counteract money laundering which is a evergreen problem in the crypto world, but so are most of the crypto exchanges. I don't require my users to specify on which boards they are going to use my plugins, but they should take full responsibility on the niche they are administrating and as long as you stay away from illegality, I don't see why you should fear your account being closed.

Anyway, more gateways are planned. Coinbase was the only one which required very little KYC info to be submitted, so it was easier for me to test the waters. Coingate and CoinPayments both require very specific documents which I can't produce easily at the moment. AFAIK these are currently the only supported crypto gateways by Omnipay. I can look into others if you want to suggest some names, as long as they have a robust API to look at.

Hacking and cracking are just well known examples, not necessarily my niche. However I think we should look out for them. I just cannot support Coinbase, or any other mainstream payment processor. Or any other processor who wants to have their hand in deciding whether or not I can send and receive money based on their ever changing policies. They spy on their clients and arbitrarily ban people from their service far too frequently. Bitcoin as a direct payment system is extremely useful, wallet to wallet would be very beneficial. Check out blockchain's API or block.io

Finndev from Nulled, currently largest forum around owns shoppy.gg which is a payment gateway for crypto and paypal with very easy api documentation and uses webhooks. Many forums are using shoppy for payment gateway as there is no fee for paypal and only 2% fee for crypto over 20$ if i remember. Integrating it would be awesome @Shade

Api reference: https://shoppy.dev/
Examples for wordpress, magneto etc: https://shoppy.gg/integrations

Don't worry. As I said, I don't mind for which niche you use my plugins. It's your own responsibility to comply with local laws after all.

Neither block.io or Shoppy.gg have a pre-existing module for Omnipay. If i'll go one way or another (or both), it's going to take a while.

Would it be easier to add it as a separate gateway, not including omnipay as base? The only reason shoppy is great so far is because of low fees, but in my case I can use the current system just as fine as my forum doesn't use anything the user tac mentioned above.

No, BankPipe has been tied to Omnipay which provides a consistent and standardized interface. It's far easier to create a Shoppy.gg module for Omnipay than making it a standalone feature. Still, since I am the only dev behind it, it's going to take a while.

No need to hurry. It could be added in the future versions.

Is development still being slowly worked on? Still use BankPipe and love it. Just wish it had some things changed and added!

I will be adding BankPipe to my second forum as well :)
