Farewell

Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I announce that I cease all development and activity in the programming universe indefinitely. My career has reached the turning point I was not expecting for at least another year, leaving me highly off guard and without laid-out plans for this hobby's continuity. I have begun a 5-year residency program in Neurosurgery which is clearly not compatible, time-wise, with programming.

I gave in all my passion for developing, and you gave me back your loyalty and trust, even when I did not deserve that much. Now it is the time for payback. I release all my present and past work as Open Source software, in the hope some talented developer will continue maintaining and expanding my vision of a modern, sleek forum software. The intrinsic flexibility of MyBB is the true hidden gem of an otherwise outdated codebase; I do hope the project can continue and be updated complying to the latest coding standards.

I hereby thank Euan, kawaii, andrewjs18, Ben, Matt, Omar G., effone, Eric J., Devilshakerz, Wildcard, JordanMussi and all the other team members I have had the opportunity to work with when I was a MyBB team member. I thank Tomm M, my mentor, who inspired me to pick up coding with his piece-of-art plugins. And finally, I thank all of you MyBBoost subscribers who have helped me getting through my toughest university years economically.

Yours sincerely, Filippo

I have not added this thread to the checklist so nothing has changed in regard to these matters. Will add them to future releases.

I just had a member say that it wasn't showing a discount or him, so I either don't have the percentage entered correctly or it just isn't showing on the page. Coupon codes DO show correctly.

If you are referring to discounts for previous subscriptions, it's not shown still, but it's applied on checkout.

Ok, I'll have to check because the member said that the discount didn't show on his actual Paypal confirmation screen either...so he cancelled the payment.

Weird. Can you screenshot your current settings for the subscription the user is currently on?

Here are 2 package settings:

VIP1 is the current level which he paid $25 to join. Now he wants to join VIP2 which is $100. The discount should take $25 off so he only has to pay $75 to upgrade. I also have a coupon discount for $50 off so he should only owe $25 at checkout.

It’s the other way around and it’s relative to the subscription itself, not for others.

Example based on your subscriptions:

VIP member (25$) has “100” as the discount value set, so when any other costlier subscription is purchased, 100% of 25$ will be taken off the new purchased sub.

Right now you are deducting 75% out of 100$ (=75$) when users buy a subscription costlier than Site Supporter (if available).

The way I hoped that it would work is like this:

Member buys a $25 VIP Subscription. A few months later, he decides to upgrade to the Site Supporter level which is $100 but the system takes into account that he already paid $25 so he gets a $25 discount when he purchases the Site Supporter level and pays only $75 instead of the full $100.

Same with the next level...it is $200 so the system should see that he has now paid $100 for previous level and only charge him $100 for the next upgrade to Benefactor level.

That is exactly how it is right now. Use 100 as value for both subs in the discount field.

Ok, so I actually have 3 subscription levels in total...

$25 VIP
$100 Site Supporter
$200 Benefactor

The discount field should be 100 for Site Supporter and Benefactor and ZERO for VIP...correct?
