Farewell

Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I announce that I cease all development and activity in the programming universe indefinitely. My career has reached the turning point I was not expecting for at least another year, leaving me highly off guard and without laid-out plans for this hobby's continuity. I have begun a 5-year residency program in Neurosurgery which is clearly not compatible, time-wise, with programming.

I gave in all my passion for developing, and you gave me back your loyalty and trust, even when I did not deserve that much. Now it is the time for payback. I release all my present and past work as Open Source software, in the hope some talented developer will continue maintaining and expanding my vision of a modern, sleek forum software. The intrinsic flexibility of MyBB is the true hidden gem of an otherwise outdated codebase; I do hope the project can continue and be updated complying to the latest coding standards.

I hereby thank Euan, kawaii, andrewjs18, Ben, Matt, Omar G., effone, Eric J., Devilshakerz, Wildcard, JordanMussi and all the other team members I have had the opportunity to work with when I was a MyBB team member. I thank Tomm M, my mentor, who inspired me to pick up coding with his piece-of-art plugins. And finally, I thank all of you MyBBoost subscribers who have helped me getting through my toughest university years economically.

Yours sincerely, Filippo

Set different theme for mobile users

Good day to you!

I would like to request a plugin that lets me (as an admin) set a default style for mobile users.

I could choose a different default style - what I do not want, because the current one simply looks perfect after I changed half the code.
I could also just make the current default style be responsive - what I might do, but it would take a while and I need my users to be able to log in.

Thank you for taking it into consideration! :D

That is the purpose of the GoMobile plugin. Install & Activate it and set your Mobile Theme ID in the plugin settings. The plugin will then direct all mobile traffic to your specified mobile theme.

^ Exactly. No need to create another plugin.

This one? https://community.mybb.com/thread-166664.html
Which is no longer updated and has some reports of issues within the last two pages of it's thread?

If would not have requested it, if it was not discontinued since fall 2016. :)
But alright, I will try that and report back if I run into issues as well.

Honestly there's nothing wrong with it. Change the compatibility version if it's outdated. I'm going to be switching to a responsive theme soon that I've been developing but for the last 1.5 years I've been using GoMobile for mobile themes, I've had no problems with it, and what you're looking for is exactly what the GoMobile plugin does.
