Farewell

Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I announce that I cease all development and activity in the programming universe indefinitely. My career has reached the turning point I was not expecting for at least another year, leaving me highly off guard and without laid-out plans for this hobby's continuity. I have begun a 5-year residency program in Neurosurgery which is clearly not compatible, time-wise, with programming.

I gave in all my passion for developing, and you gave me back your loyalty and trust, even when I did not deserve that much. Now it is the time for payback. I release all my present and past work as Open Source software, in the hope some talented developer will continue maintaining and expanding my vision of a modern, sleek forum software. The intrinsic flexibility of MyBB is the true hidden gem of an otherwise outdated codebase; I do hope the project can continue and be updated complying to the latest coding standards.

I hereby thank Euan, kawaii, andrewjs18, Ben, Matt, Omar G., effone, Eric J., Devilshakerz, Wildcard, JordanMussi and all the other team members I have had the opportunity to work with when I was a MyBB team member. I thank Tomm M, my mentor, who inspired me to pick up coding with his piece-of-art plugins. And finally, I thank all of you MyBBoost subscribers who have helped me getting through my toughest university years economically.

Yours sincerely, Filippo

Ok two things I noticed about this plugin. First thing its great start and I love how it works. I have 2 requests to as features that it should have.

1) I like the imgur feature and works very good, BUT is there a way to make sure the urls that come back instead of http://www.imgur.com/picture.jpg to change the http to https as I have ssl on my website and gives me errors ( saying the images from imgur arent secure and could be used to attack the website) when i view page as the imgur pictures arent SSL and I know they can be. Is that a option ?

2) by default without your plugin you can upload images to mybb forum and gives you the option to insert the image into the post, and can utilize lightbox. If you have imgur upload off, could you make it a option when you put your mouse over image to be able to insert the image into the post like the default one does?

Hello @TeamViz and thank you for supporting me by buying a premium subscription. Both of your suggestions seem reasonable, and I will add them to the to-do list for the next minor version of MyDropzone. I am currently away for my finals until the end of January, but when I will be back I am going to push an update as soon as possible.

I will check it out when I will be back. In the meantime, please provide your board's URL so I will be able to test the issue on your side.

Nvm, its working now. It was happening when you were uploading an image to imgur. It was probably some problem with their servers?

BTW, if you upgrade the mybb software, the dropzone area isn't shown anymore afterwards. I've encountered this bug with upgrading to 1.8.9 and 1.8.10. You can fix it by uninstall/install, perhaps also with deactivate/activate, but i didn't try that. Thought i'd let you know.

Board url is, if you still need it: www.uniting-people.com/forum

A suggestion for this plugin - similar to the Imgur feature.

Is it possible to link another API to hold actual files, instead of just images? Many boards aren't comfortable allowing users to upload attachments to their server, in fear that users may upload illegal content and put the website at legal risk for hosting this content.

So could an actual file host such as MEGA, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. be used to quickly upload files and use that download link in place of the normal attachment link, so it's not being hosted on your website? This would be a very valuable feature imo.

I've got to check if the respective APIs allow uploading from third party sites. Also, I'm not sure if they allow uploading files anonymously such as Imgur. Requiring users to link an external account seems not very practical to me, as the plugin wants to speed up the uploading process by simplifing it. Definitely an interesting suggestion though which I will surely consider.

I'm really looking forward to possibly seeing this feature added if you can manage it when you get back.

Hello,

First of all I want to felicitate you witch you're great work! :) everything I ever desired is waiting on me here thx to you!

I have some suggestion on this awesome plugin... I would like to have the ability to include the uploaded attachments inline of the posted topic/ message as with the standard upload facility of mybb .. using the [attachment] bbcode tags.
Could that be possible or would that cause some headaches ?

kind regards,
