Farewell

Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I announce that I cease all development and activity in the programming universe indefinitely. My career has reached the turning point I was not expecting for at least another year, leaving me highly off guard and without laid-out plans for this hobby's continuity. I have begun a 5-year residency program in Neurosurgery which is clearly not compatible, time-wise, with programming.

I gave in all my passion for developing, and you gave me back your loyalty and trust, even when I did not deserve that much. Now it is the time for payback. I release all my present and past work as Open Source software, in the hope some talented developer will continue maintaining and expanding my vision of a modern, sleek forum software. The intrinsic flexibility of MyBB is the true hidden gem of an otherwise outdated codebase; I do hope the project can continue and be updated complying to the latest coding standards.

I hereby thank Euan, kawaii, andrewjs18, Ben, Matt, Omar G., effone, Eric J., Devilshakerz, Wildcard, JordanMussi and all the other team members I have had the opportunity to work with when I was a MyBB team member. I thank Tomm M, my mentor, who inspired me to pick up coding with his piece-of-art plugins. And finally, I thank all of you MyBBoost subscribers who have helped me getting through my toughest university years economically.

Yours sincerely, Filippo

Thanks for this plugin, Shade. I cannot express how valuable this plugin is to me in terms. The amount of time saved is enormous, especially when creating themes. I have about twelve copies of this plugin installed on all of my test forums. :D

@Shade - Hi, your last version 1.5 is amazing, I have been testing for last 3 days - no issue with saving templates so far!

Anyway, there is one issue - when you wanna save anything in ACP -> this is shown in the right top corner (settings is saved, but the note is still here). No issue with v1.4.

Btw - it makes no sense to me - the settings is disabled, it shows a note that it is enabled... nope, it is not :)

This plugin has a bug...
I put version 1.5.... i have a mysql error user_max_connections at 08:00 AM. Same error everyday for 5 minutes.
In 1.4 this error doesn't exist
Yestarday i remove plugin FastStyle 1.5 and the error doesn't appear...
Only with this plugin the error exist...it's a problem with plugin...please solve that...version 1.4 is better then 1.5

Never experienced anything like this. I would say this is an issue with your server, but I'll wait for other similar feedbacks.

FASTyle 1.6.1 is out

To see the changelog, see FASTyle development.

This release introduces even quicker templates editing.

[Image: kHHw4Ms.gif]

From version 1.6 onwards, FASTyle is equipped with a quick templates editing functionality which lets you open multiple templates into a single page and switch between them. You can open templates within the same template set by selecting it from the quick jump selectbox and waiting for it to properly load. Tabs are added above the textarea:
  • a bolder appearance indicates the tab is currently opened;
  • a yellow bottom border with an asterisk mark (*) before the template name indicates the template has unsaved changed;
  • the red "x" mark closes the template. It will be reloaded from the database if it's opened again in the same session.

Your editing session is saved locally in your browser and opened templates are opened again when you browse back to a new template editing page. Combined with the CTRL/CMD+S shortcut, editing templates now becomes something enjoyable by everyone and fast as light.

On GitHub you will find FASTyle's development version which now features new keyboard shortcuts:
  • CTRL/CMD + S = save templates or stylesheets
  • CTRL/CMD + F = open the template search selectbox*
  • ALT + W = close current template tab

*the associated browser shortcut (e.g. in Chrome/FF/Safari = find in page) is shifted to the closest character to the "F" one, meaning that CTRL/CMD + G will be the new "find in page" feature in pages where FASTyle is enabled.

It also adds a confirmation dialog to close unsaved templates and a nicer look and feel to the quick template editor.

Awesome :) Now I won't have to keep 20 template editor tabs open in my browser

Exactly. I have not added any upper limit to the number of templates you can handle in a browser page, since in my tests I haven't encountered any performance issues. The latest version from GitHub contains styling fixes to handle as many tabs as possible, a "close all tabs" button to wipe out all the opened tabs at once and minor enhancements.
