After a particularly long period of development pause due to personal commitments and life events, I am finally back on track with a lot of funky updates for MyBBoost and its users. You may have already noticed the most important among all the others, a new homepage with featured content is now available.
Featured content
The homepage is not just a landing page with a list of all plugins anymore. I felt like a bit of rejuvenating was necessary, and I guess I nailed it by displaying what engages people the most – CONTENT! It is really just an embryo concept at the moment, but the core is just waiting for frequent and ultimate touches which will hopefully make your stay on the site worthwhile, if not already. Featured content is picked up from releases, announcements and betas; whenever a thread (which is not more like a blog post) gets an update, it is brought back on top with the relevant post explaining changes highlighted in
green. You just have to click on the post to read it all.
The uttermost trait the new homepage has – it is completely compatible with Endless! For more informations on Endless, read
Infinite scrolling. On the other side, forums have been moved to the sidebar with a more compact version of the old style.
More frequent updates and tips
There is nothing better than a developer that communicates with people; I have realized I lack on proper communication with you, so I have decided to start writing down frequent posts, including board updates, tips and tricks focused on developing and managing boards and plugin releases of course. I pledge to release at least one monthly update and 1 news every 2 weeks, if personal life will not take over my spare time.
This also means some plugins might be released in a beta limited to subscribers in the near future.
Libraries update
Some libraries which power the site have been updated to their latest versions and should provide a more stable and pleasant navigation through MyBBoost. If you see something is wrong with the styling/functionality, please report the issue within the
proper forum.
Development status
The communication effort just started: here's the current development status tracked down for every single plugin.
Endless
Endless has been running smoothly on MyBBoost for a while now. It has been recently updated with bug fixes and extensibility patches to let it work better with the new homepage. Not far from a beta release; currently misses attachments support.
Hovercards
Hovercards preview misses a proper backend implementation, which will include extreme customization by letting users choose whatever field is available in the users and userfields tables. It is not that hard, but it is indeed an extremely boring assignment. Not far from a beta release either though.
Flyover
Flyover 2.4 is missing the step-by-step tutorial collection and minor changes. The latest version of HybridAuth is already in place. Again, creating a step-by-step guide is not particularly stimulant and I might release 1.3 without them soon, given it has not been updated for over a year.
MyChat
MyChat preview is a big question mark at the current stages. Following the server change (
MyBBoost has moved to a new hosting), some issues regarding the MySQL improvements made back in november 2016 suddenly awakened. Low query speed has proven to be utterly pesky, something I need to solve before diving back into features development. On the other hand, there are not many improvements left in the to-do list, except for a mandatory backend polishing. The plugin is not top priority anymore, as it is not closely related to what a forum needs to be.
ThunderBoard
ThunderBoard received fresh lymph with the nearly-stable beta 3 release. I need to find a way to shift core operations to a one-timer rather than the current implementation at runtime, and that's the biggest issue retaining the plugin into its beta status. I have been applying small but constant updates every now and then, therefore expect updates soon.
QuickReferences
I have an update in mind for
QuickReferences 1.2 which is already there, more or less, waiting for some personal tests on protected boards. The idea is quite simple: extend the plugin to reference forums and posts, not just threads. The syntax will inevitably change, and an issue regarding the conversion from the old one is currently on investigation.
Thank you!
I feel like a huge thank you to all the recent subscribers is mandatory. @

you ROCK! Part of your contribution has gone into the new server, and the other part will go into my books for the next semester.
